Dick Halbert

"Zions National Park" (18"x24")

Dick Halbert is a native Californian. He has traveled extensively and enjoys painting all types of subjects from all over the world.  For the most part he is self taught, and works in many mediums including oils, acrylics, pastels, pencil, and inks. For recent years he has devoted his time to transparent watercolor because it is, in his view, the most challenging and the most satisfying.
His subject matter varies from portraits to landscapes to seascapes, and happily the list goes on.  It just depends on what catches his eye, an expression, the way the light bounces off a tree limb, or a reflection in water. He has also worked in three dimensional material, sculpted waxes, clay, faux marble and granite.
His paintings have received many awards and are represented in numerous private and corporate collections in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, etc. A number of his pieces have been put into print, most recently into the fine new giclee process that produces beautiful and faithful renditions of his work.
For many years Dick was a major contributor to the Laguna Art Affair, a concurrent exhibition with the world famous Pageant of the Masters. His paintings have been shown in the Watercolor Gallery in Laguna Beach for 25 years...
